Quick updates on what we are working on and what to anticipate next. As promised, I am now doing these updates every quarter.

Soviet Weapons of the Afghan War and Uniforms and History of the Soviet Airborne in Afghanistan
These two books are now in printers and scheduled to be completed by mid October. It is the first run of the Weapons book and the second for the Uniforms and History. Both books should turn out really nice, with higher quality binding, cover and paper than first time round (which, as many of you remember, was pretty much a wartime production book)
The books are then expected to hit warehouse in the US in November, so we hope that all preorders will be fulfilled by Christmas.
The Easy Company in Normandy - The study of uniforms and equipment
The book that we are doing in collaboration with Plastic Invasion. We are putting together our design skills, historical knowledge and marketing skills to bring the best possible product covering the topic. It will cover, in greatest detail, uniforms, weapons and equipment of the paratroopers of the famous Easy Company.
The book is planned to go on Kickstarter in January 2025 and be out of printers by summer, right in time for the D-Day anniversary and book's second part announcement. First book from Plastic Invasion is already available on our website and will be in the warehouse in October:
Soviet Weapons of the Atomic Age
This is the second book in our Weapons series and hopefully not the last one, even though we are planning to focus more on the uniforms and equipment in 2025. It is nearing the completion, both in text and photography and I am planning to have a printable manuscript by the end of this year. The idea is to have at least one copy for London Book Fair in 2025, where Safar Publishing is now confirmed to exhibit.
The book will generally follow the same structure as the Soviet Weapons of the Afghan War, although covering completely different weapon systems. The Kickstarter campaign is scheduled for February 2025.
Red Alert: Structure and Uniforms of the Soviet Infantry Regiment
This is the book which has started its journey in early 2022 and it is only now that we are getting close to completion. We have made, approximately, half of all needed photos and we are deep into research and writing. The book will follow the general style of the Uniforms and Equipment of the Soviet Airborne in Afghanistan, but will be way more detailed, both in photographs of insignia and in explanation why certain things are worn. It is likely that the book will be accompanied by one of the projects we had in mind since long ago - Faces of the Soviet Army. It will be a gallery of soldiers' and officers' portraits accompanied by detailed explanations of their service, based on the medals and banners they wear. The idea can be found in the Instagram collection of the author.
The idea is to do the Kickstarter campaign very early in the summer, as by then most of the Soviet Weapons of the Atomic Age books will be shipped to the backers.
Ukrainian Armed Forces in UN missions
Another long awaited book covers the Uniforms, History and Equipment of the Ukrainian Peacekeepers. Our team is finally back on it. Most of the research is done, although there is not that much to write about - it is mostly visual, like the Uniforms and History of the Soviet Airborne book. The plan now is to get back to photography as soon as we complete Red Alert project, so later this year. We will need to complete, print and send Red Alert book first, so if the UN book will hit the Kickstarter in late 2025 - we will consider this a great success.
Other titles in the work
Since we are transforming from a self-publisher to the actual Publishing House, more and more authors and collectors want to submit their work to us. And we are doing our best to create needed infrastructure to accommodate this growing demand. So, first and foremost, if you would like to work with us, please submit your details in the form below:
But here are the books that are in different stages of work and that we are hoping to print one day:
Red Lens The Evolution of Soviet Military Day and Night Optics
This book is definitely going to be printed and most likely in 2025. If things go well, it will be possible to preorder it during the Soviet Weapons of the Atomic Age Kickstarter campaign.
Uniform and equipment of the Afghan Army
This one is in the works already, new photographs are made almost every weekend. Some polishing of the techniques is still in order and we quite a bit of research is waiting ahead, but we hope to complete he project by the end of 2025.
VDV in Peacetime - Soviet Paratroopers
We have all the knowledge and good portion of photographs for this book. As soon as we will manage to get good impressions with models, this will be pushed into production.
Sips of the Soviet Union: Beverages of a Bygone Era
Those of you who follow us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook know, that there is an author who wants to publish his collection. This project is very much in the work - it will contain photographs of almost 400 sealed bottles of non-alcoholic beverages of Soviet production. A lot of information on the industry is also present in the book. As soon as we figure out the good cover for it - it will appear on the website!
Notes of the Ukrainian Reconquistador
While this project was mostly completed in 2023, it is our veery first text-only memoir book and it is not easy! Our team and the author are working closely to complete this and hopefully start whole series of War Memoirs.
Uniforms and Equipment of the First Chechen War
This book is anticipated by many of our followers, but... The topic is very wide and our collection on it is not as big as we'd like. Making an Afghan War book but in VSR camouflage is not the way - we will need to collaborate with other collectors. So, if you are reading this and want to participate in Chechen War book - please get in touch!
The Soviet Soldier of the Atomic Age
We have this book in plans for many years now, and in theory it is all there - collection, research, weapons. We do keep hopes up that our main guy on the topic will get to it in 2025.
Book on Rhodesian Army
A new author joining our team, with vast knowledge on the topic. Our collection is very limited, however, and this is something we will have to address in the coming years.
Weapons of the Ukrainian SOF
Same author is currently working with the Ukrainian Army and has good access to weapons and equipment. Following the pattern of the first two weapons books, we are looking into making book on this contemporary topic.
Captured weapons of the modern Russian Army
And this is the project I am really interested in - another Weapon style book on modern russian weaponry. Collections of these small arms grow, as well as first hand experience. As soon as we will be confident that we have collected absolute maximum we could.
